About Cleve Walker

Cleve Walker is a native of Jackson, MS and one of thirteen children of William and Clara Walker. Thanks to to the godly example of his parents and the clear gospel message he heard during a Billy Graham televised crusade, Cleve came to faith in Christ at the tender age of 12. He developed a voracious appetite for the Scriptures reading the Bible from cover to cover and felt a call to the preaching ministry. After graduating high school, he attended in college in private Methodist supported college in Raleigh, N.C. where he met his future bride, Barbara, who was a college senior at the time. They were married just two years later and Cleve transferred to a Bible college in Fayetteville, N.C. He began a career in Christian radio in 1977 in the town of Orangeburg, S.C. After that station was sold, he worked in secular radio stations around South Carolina in a variety of formats.

Cleve joined 88.3 WAFJ just a few months before the awful terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It was during that time of uncertainty and confusion that he gained a new appreciation for the power of radio- especially Christian radio. As listeners called the station for more information- and for prayer, it became evident that God had a special calling for 88.3 WAFJ in the CSRA. As a matter of fact, the station gained many new listeners during that traumatic time and made WAFJ an even more important part of the Georgia/South Carolina region.

Cleve and Barbara have been married for 40 years and are the proud parents of three adult daughters and have three grandsons and one granddaughter. They make their home in North Augusta.
